Frequently Asked Questions

Any threat of harm to personal safety or the safety of others, any criminal act that is in progress or just occurred, any situation which escalates from non-emergency to emergency.

An emergency is defined as any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police/sheriff, the fire department, or an ambulance with risk to loss of life or property (save a life, stop a crime, report a fire). If in doubt as to whether a situation is an emergency, call or text 911. It’s better to be safe and let the 911 operator determine the need.

Call or text 911 if there is a threat to loss of life or property. Know the address and city of your emergency. Know personal phone number. Know the type of emergency. Stay calm and answer all of the operator’s questions.
