Beginning September 1, 2009, by Utah Law, a person who owns or leases an AED located in the state is required to register all Automated External Defibrillators with the state Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.Â
In order to comply, you must register, in writing or via the web, the following information to the Emergency Medical Dispatch Center that provides emergency dispatch services for the location where the AED is installed.Â

In the event the AED is unistalled from the location provided you must:Â
Report in writing or via the web within 30 Days after the day on which the AED was uninstalled or removed.
The purpose of this program is to provide the emergency medical dispatch center that provides emergency dispatch services for the location where the AED has been installed. The goals of the program are to place AEDs in rural communities and increase the community awareness and knowledge. The project will place AEDs, ensure training , and track AED usage.Â
Salt Lake Valley Emergency Communications Center (VECC) has instituted a regional Emergency Notification System (ENS) for the citizens of Salt Lake County. VECC, a consolidated 9-1-1/Police/ Fire Dispatch Center (serving all communities in Salt Lake County except Salt Lake City and Sandy City), along with Salt Lake City 9-1-1 (SLC911- serving Salt Lake City and Sandy City) have agreed to share the system, thus making the service available to all residents and businesses within Salt Lake County. This ENS provides a means to send telephone, SMS text, and email notifications regarding emergency situations or critical public safety information to residents and businesses within Salt Lake County. The notifications are directed towards those that are impacted by, or in danger of being impacted by, an emergency or disaster.
This system delivers information and instructions regarding emergencies, disasters, or critical information under the authority of the responding public safety agencies, emergency management, and/or municipal administrations. It will be used to notify those homes and businesses at risk within the affected area and will provide information regarding the incident and/or actions to take (such as evacuation). Additional necessary instructions or information, (such as shelter locations), may also be provided. As allowed by statute, the system utilizes the region’s 9-1-1 database, provided by the local telephone company, and thus is able to contact land-line telephones whether listed or unlisted. It is TTY/TDD capable.
However, because the system uses the region’s 9-1-1 database, only land-line numbers are automatically added into the system. If you have an alternative telephone system provider, such as a cable network, a Voice over Internet Protocol provider (VoIP), or a cellular telephone, and would like to be notified via that provider, you must register those telephone numbers. Similarly, if you would like to receive an email notification, you must register the email addresses at which you wish to receive the notification.
This system only serves addresses that fall within the boundaries of Salt Lake County, Utah. If you are trying to register a phone number to an address outside of Salt Lake County, Utah, be aware that the system is unable to make emergency notifications regarding incidents or impacted addresses that occur and/or fall outside of Salt Lake County, Utah.
This information is being submitted over a secure, encrypted connection. VECC will not share or distribute personal information gathered on this website and will use it solely for the purpose of providing emergency notifications and sharing critical public safety information. Neither VECC nor SLC911, or any of their agencies and affiliates, or their employees, make any warranty, express or implied, or assumes any legal liability or responsibility for the accuracy, confidentiality, completeness, or usefulness of any information provided or incorporated into the system as a result of the submittal of this form.
NOTICE:Â Notification is based on the registered address. Should you relocate or desire to cease receiving emergency notification by email, VoIP, or cell phone, please return to this site to submit an edit or deletion request.
CAUTION: To help ensure you receive emergency messages as soon as possible, you are encouraged to provide multiple contact paths (i.e. cell phone number, email address, and voice over internet protocol). Additionally, while this mass notification system is considered effective and efficient, due to phone system damage that may occur during or after an emergency or disaster, network congestion, and/or changes that may be implemented by communications network providers, it is possible that individuals may not receive a notification or it may be delayed.  Therefore, you should not wait for or rely exclusively on a mass notification system call, text, or email for evacuation directives or other safety instructions. If you think you are in danger, you should evacuate immediately. If you are directed to evacuate by emergency personnel, you should follow their direction.
